Brad Pitt has recently become one of the first owners of Vacheron Constantin’s new flagship watch for 2022, the Vacheron Constantin 222. The watch is a limited edition of only 72 pieces and is crafted from 18K white gold. The watch features a sunburst dial with a blue chronograph, two independent subdials, and a power reserve indicator. It is powered by Caliber 2460 SC, which is a self-winding movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement is visible through the exhibition caseback. The Vacheron Constantin 222 has a retail price of over $60,000 and is sure to be one of the most sought-after watches of the year. Brad Pitt is certainly one of the few people who can afford such a luxurious timepiece.

Vacheron Constantin 222 was came out in 1977 and was one of a number of luxury sports watches Swiss brands released that decade, including the Patek Phillipe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Not many believed for a time, by Gérald Genta, the designer of the other aforementioned iconic models — and released in celebration of Vacheron Constantin’s 220th anniversary. The watch was noteworthy, and deemed a bit radical at the time, for its monobloc steel case with scalloped, screw-down bezel and its integrated steel bracelet, screwed to the case middle, with hexagonal center links. Its 37mm case was only 7.2mm thick and contained the now-famous self-winding Caliber 1211. The inlaid Maltese Cross emblem at 5 o’clock on the barrel-shaped case, along with several other of the so-called “Triple Two” model, helped lay the foundation for the Vacheron Constantin Overseas in 1996, the sport-luxury collection widely regarded as the successor to the 222.
